I've
been looking to buy a digital SLR camera for a long time however the
cost has always put me off. I recently decided I had waited long enough
and upgraded my Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR to a Canon 500D. The F70EXR was a
perfectly capable point and shoot camera but it lacked the complete
photographic control that only a DSLR can provide.
I've
only had the camera a few weeks but so far I have been very happy with
the results. I currently own just the kit lens (18-55mm) but after
reading lots of reviews I intend to purchase the Canon 50mm f1.8 as soon
as possible.
One
of the things that has surprised me the most are the videos produced by
the camera. The quality is excellent and it is possible to produce some
very interesting results though using a shallow depth of field.
Unfortunately unlike the 550D this 500D allows very limited control
over the cameras operation while in video mode.
